Brewery- MadTree
Beer- Rounding Third
Style – Red IPA
ABV- 6.5%
IBU- 51

Brewed to celebrate the start of our favorite pastime. Rounding Third has a slight caramel semisweet malt backbone balanced by a strong hop profile. Dry hopped with Falconers Flight and Simcoe that will have your pallet rounding third and heading for home.

MadTree’s celebration of baseball, and the reds, Rounding third has taken an extremely important role in helping this city to celebrate its favorite spring pastime, baseball.

The beer was first released in 2014, on draft before being re-released in 2015 and then getting its canned upgrade for the 2015 All-Star game in Cincinnati.  The combination of Nugget, Cascade, Simcoe, and Falconer’s Flight hops is a good one, giving this beer’s 6.5% and 51 IBUs a lot to play off of.

My Thoughts On MadTree Rounding Third

An excellent example of the play that can be done between hops and solid, big malt profiles.  This beer is bready and heavy-bodied with a delicious hop profile as well.  This beer begs you to keep drinking it as your tastebuds dance from one flavor to the next.  It has a delicious grassy, outdoorsy quality that when coupled with the caramel that you taste from the malt, makes it seemingly perfect for springtime.

This is designed for those spring days, where the sun warms your skin, but there is still a slight chill in the air… baseball kicks off and my fridge gets stocked with Rounding Third.  Awesome Stuff!
