One of the biggest things that make Craft Beer communities tick, is their tie with charity. It’s part of the reason that I am so drawn to the community and part of the reason that it does as well as it does. That doesn’t mean that it cuts out the fun and games entirely though, and this event is the perfect example of how it can all come together.

BrewersOpenAbout The Brewer’s Open

The Brewer’s Open Charity Golf outing may have been the idea of Chef Tony from Cincy Beer Brats, but the event itself is much bigger than any one person or brewery could ever be. The easy part is describing the “why” of the event.

It’s a charity event designed to raise money for ‘ProKids’ – which is a charity to support abused children. It came to fruition simply after Chef Tony got sick and tired of hearing about all the problems present, and wanted to do something to help. He is helping the best way he can, by combining his love for craft beer, and his hobby of golfing. The pieces just seem to fall into place by themselves.

The event details are fairly simple. It is a two-man scramble, and the actual golfing begins at 1 pm on October 3rd at The Four Bridges Golf course. If you aren’t a golfer, there is still a tasting event as well that you can participate in… more on that in a minute though.

Prizes? Prizes!

What’s a good golf outing without some killer prizes to go along with it? They’ve got some really fantastic stuff to entice you to sign up, that’s for sure!

  • $5,000 Putting Contest
  • Longest Drive contests for both men and women.
  • Closest to the pin contest on all of the par 3’s (a Corvette and $10,000 are both up for grabs!)

  • Lot’s of raffle and door prizes.

They’ve also teamed up with Top Golf in West Chester. If you are signed up for the event you’ll have the opportunity to show up to Top Golf to warm up by hitting a few balls at the driving range for a couple of hours before you head to the event. Take the opportunity to check out the new Top Golf facility!

The19thHoleThe 19th Hole

Even if you decide not to participate in the golfing part of the event, you can still get your beer drinking on with the 19th hole tasting celebration. If you sign up for the tasting, you’ll have beers from Rivertown, Dogberry, Paradise, Alltech, and others being added. Your ticket also includes a barbecue dinner from the bearded pig barbecue.

It’s a great way to take part even if you aren’t a big golfer.

If you make it out to the 19th hole, you’ll be graced with a live Cincy Brewcast broadcast as well… So it’s hard not to say that it’s a win-win!
