TinyMunicipalLogoSummer beer fans, rejoice!  It’s not Oktoberfest and Pumpkin season yet at all our local breweries (not that that’s a bad thing for those where it is). There are still summer beers not only flowing from the taps around town, but there are still new seasonals being tapped too!

Municipal Brew Works in Hamilton has been hard at work keeping up wit the demand of their local fans since they opened their doors this summer. They are finally catching their breath and starting to roll out some of their seasonal releases.

Woltermelon Blonde

Dubbed Woltermelon Blonde, this beer is an homage to local Hamiltonian Patrick Wolterman.  Patrick sadly lost his life in the line of duty as a Hamilton City Firefighter.  After hearing the story from his family about Patrick being turned on to watermelon beer at a Hamilton Fire Department Picnic, the brewery knew exactly how they wanted to honor his memory.

They took their flagship Blonde Ale, and infused it with real watermelons.  The resulting beer is an easily sessionable 4.8% ABV and a light 15 IBUs.  It’s packed full of fresh watermelon flavor in a nice light bodied beer that pairs very nicely with a hot Hamilton afternoon.  As a massive fan of watermelon beers myself, I can vouch for this being delicious, and a great example of a fresh, “punchy” watermelon beer.

This beer has been on tap for a few weeks now, I’m just a little behind in my keeping you up to date – whoops.

Weiz Guys Hefeweizen

This is the big one today.  They are tapping their second seasonal in conjunction with the StreetSpark Mural Dedication.  The beer is a traditional German Hefeweizen and in the words of the brewery is a “great summer quencher”.  It’s also great to see that the beer is the first collaboration of sorts from the brewery, with them teaming up with Paradise Brewing to make it happen.

They’ll have Carvaso’s Fine Mexican Cuisine on site to provide some food to keep your belly full while you knock back a few. If you haven’t been out to see their massive patio space – I’m thinking this is a fantastic reason to do so.  It never hurts to split your week up with an evening at a brewery, enjoying life.
