I’ve got good news, and I’ve got bad news.  It all relates to MadTree and their really delicious Trunk Series of releases.  Trunk Series bottles  have been few and far between since they moved into their massive new ‘MadTree’ 2.0 location in Oakley this year.  They’ve been ramping up production and making sure that there aren’t too many growing pains for us drinkers in the mean time.

The Bad News

The bad news is that if you remember the little update post I had a while back (you can find it here)  Well there was some “issues” with the bottling of this beer that we got a little sneak peek at, called ‘Dissentience’.

So – this Rye Barrel aged Rye Brown Ale that I was so looking forward to isn’t going to be hitting your beer fridge any time soon.  The short part of the story is that there was an “issue” while bottling, and some glass shards came off of the rim.  The brewery didn’t want to risk releasing anything damaged or dangerous out to us, so they were forced to destroy all the bottles.

I was really looking forward to this, and it makes me sad – but I can’t imagine how much it sucks for a team of people who have not only been working to make this beer, but then to have been looking out for it in barrels afterwards to see it go down the drain after so much time and effort went into it.

However… I am still holding up some hope that a bit of it might be around in some kegs…  fingers crossed!

The Good News

The good news is that in the meantime we got a great teaser at the next trunk series release that we will see.  It’s a repeat one, so I know for a fact that this is a delicious one!  The brewery will be releasing a new batch of ‘Are You Ready For Some Darkness’, a barrel aged imperial stout with hemp seeds.

Last year – if you remember, they released this one twice.  The first release was on Black Friday in a gift box with Barrel Aged Coffee Vanilla Axis Mundi, and a Trunk Series glass for you to drink the beers out of.  That first release was followed up with a really limited daytime release of only 30 cases of the beer in December.  The point is I know that there is most likely a bunch of people who would LOVE this beer that didn’t get their chance to snag any last time!

You’re gonna wanna get some this time.  Trust me, it’s freaking amazing.
