Have you been to West Side Brewing, yet?  First off, if the answer is ‘No’, you need to clear your immediate schedule and make sure that you plan a day to head out to their Westwood taproom with a few friends.  While its pretty awesome to snag local beer at whatever your favorite watering hole might be, it’s nothing compared to hitting up one of our local taprooms and showing them some love in person.

For the second part, though… if you haven’t been, yet, things are going to get a little bit easier for you to try what they’re brewing up, even if you live south of the river!

The Move Into Kentucky

The River City News reported yesterday that West Side Brewing was making a big leap, down into Kentucky where they’ll be making their debut at the Hotel Covington (tonight!).

The brewery has some definite ties, not only with NKY (Joe Mumper, one of the owners, lives in Newport and worked with the Salyers group while they helped co-develop the hotel).  It’s makes a lot of sense, then, why they wanted to make the push south a little quicker than some other places sometimes do.

The brewery will be tapping their beer tonight at the Hotel Covington, starting at 5 and they’ll be kicking things off with five of their popular offerings:

  • Common Ale
  • Hefeweizen
  • Session IPA
  • Double IPA
  • Stout

Living in Kentucky, Mumper said that he’s been getting a lot of requests to bring his beer into his home state – and after their current success as they’ve started distributing in Ohio, they knew it was time.

What’s This About Cans?

The rumors have been floating around for a little while, and the brewery has confirmed that they’ll be canning “soon”, but for now the taps are ready to go.  You’ll be able to find their packaged beer in Kroger as well as other retailers as soon as all the pieces fall in to place, though.

In the meantime.  Go.  If you want to hear a little bit more about West Side before you head out, though, you can listen to Cincy Brewcast Volume 3, Episode 19 where we sat down with the whole West Side crew to get a good look into what makes the place tick.
