I am fairly confident that this isn’t new information to most of you – It’s been hard to miss the social media flurry from 3 Points and the fans that they’ve already gained. Still, I wanted to make sure that you knew that this weekend is the Grand Opening of the brewery, anyways. There is also the chance that you might like to hear a little bit about my take on the brewery, and what you can expect from them.
If for some reason you don’t want me to spoil your first impressions of the place for yourself, feel free to stop reading here, and mark your calendar for this Friday, Saturday or Sunday. They’ll be open from 4pm – 1am on Friday, 11am – 1am Saturday, and 11am – Midnight on Sunday.
The Space
I wasn’t sure what to expect from 3 points when they told us that they were focusing on 3 different points as part of their personality – Art, Experience, Beer. It’s these three points that when coupled up with the three streets that make up the brewery’s Pendleton neighborhood where they get their name from (clever, right?). But what in the world does it all mean?
Walking into the brewery you enter their bar area. It’s not unfamiliar to you if you’ve been in just about any taproom. A long, stainless steel bar fills the space, the front of it is covered with bright, tropical murals. The bar space features high top tables and plenty of standing room for you to mingle around with your friends.
If you follow the space around, past the actual brewery area in the back, you enter the back half of the taproom, which is where 3 Points does things a little different. The space is filled with big couches, and more communal seating. It feels like a patio that belongs in Miami Beach, with neon colors standing out against lots of white paint and concrete. The lighting on the ceiling changes from neon hues of pink and blue gradually. It screams summertime to me, and it’s refreshing, clean, and open.
Overall, the personality of the space at 3 Points has aspects of a laid back coffeehouse that stand starkly different than the sides of it that seem almost “club-like”. A bank of tvs on one wall usually showcase artwork that has been created to showcase each of their beers, but can also be configured to show big television events (like sports). I dig what they’ve done… and that’s all before a single beer has hit your lips.
The Beer
I haven’t tried all their offerings, yet. But from what I have tried so far I can say that 3 Points is eager to put out some traditional styles. Light lagers stand up right next to a Saison, and an Oatmeal Stout, it’s a little bit for everyone. As of their grand opening, here’s what you can find on tap:
- Origami – Post Coast IPA – 6.5% ABV
- Sure Shot – House Pale Ale – 5.5% ABV
- Birdseye – Saison – 5.8% ABV
- Easy Ale – Cream Ale – 4.5% ABV
- Sinking Orca – Oatmeal Stout – 5% ABV
- Rattle and Shake – Vienna Lager – 5.4% ABV
- Gesture 569 – Wheat Ale – 5.1% ABV
- Gesture 137 – German Pilsner – 5.2% ABV
