Prehistorically hopped Imperial India Pale Ale that attacks the senses with potent notes of Papaya, Mango and Peach yet it finishes it’s prey (your palate) with a crisp clean citrus bitterness.

This beer has been ravaging the tastebuds of Cincinnati’s craft beer fans since 2013, and has been doing so from the comfort of our couches at home since it was first released in bombers in 2015.  Things were taken to a new level in 2018 when the brewery finally put it out into 12oz cans to the joy of hopheads everywhere.

The name evidently came from a “memorable incorrect answer” at a family game night, and since then has become synonymous with it’s big release parties and even bigger personality that really showcases what Rhinegeist’s personality was all about for their first couple of years in business.

Make no mistake about it, Saber Tooth Tiger packs quite a bite, fulfilling it’s name perfectly.  If you didn’t know what you were getting into, the fantastic artwork on both the cans and bombers from TOMMYINK should clue you in to it’s ferocity and beauty.

My Thoughts On Rhinegeist Saber Tooth Tiger

The beer pours into your glass with a beautiful golden body and a thick, stiff white head on top.

Aromas run the gamut of a deep breadiness in the background, topped off with a heavy pine note that drifts off into a light fruitiness.

The taste of Saber Tooth Tiger is where you really get to see what this beer is about, though.  It starts fruity, with a thick resiny bitter bite to it.  The finish to the beer though is sweet, and crisp and leaves a tingling bitter ping on your tounge begging for another sip.

It’s a great beer, and even if you’ve tried it before is always worth a revisit if it’s been a while for you!
