We are absolutely blessed to live in a city with both a fantastic beer scene, coupled with some really amazing food, as well.  The folks behind the Crafted, local beer food and music festival (July 21st at Sawyer Point) plan to help us celebrate those things in a big way this summer at Sawyer Point.  I wanted to give you a little bit of a sneak peek at what you can expect from this festival before you head over and snag your tickets for an afternoon of finely crafted goodness!

The Details

The festival is built around a  simple concept.  They want to showcase food and drink that is thoughtfully sourced, and creatively prepared as well as bringing together as many people as possible that have that same concept.  By using beer, food and music together they have created an event that puts that very thing front and center in the spotlight while creating an atmosphere that is ripe for mingling with like-minded people.

Tickets are available now on the event’s website, and it’s really important to note that they are not going to be available at the festival gates.  You’ve got to get online and pre-purchase your ticket for entry!  The event is also 21 and over, and you are going to have to bring an ID to get in.  The tickets are a little pricey for a beer festival, with the tickets going for $75 for the regular admission and $100 for a VIP ticket.  Don’t get too gun-shy from the price though… with your ticket you get:

  • Tastings of up to 84 oz of beer, 4oz samples or 12oz full pours.
  • 16+ food samples from 7 local restaurants.

The event has also teamed up with the League For Animal Welfare for a charity component, and they’ll be accepting donations as well as donating proceeds from T-shirt sales to the charity.  The League For Animal Welfare describes themselves:

League for Animal Welfare is a privately funded, non-profit organization providing much-needed care for unwanted, lost and neglected cats and dogs in their community. As the oldest and one of the largest no-kill shelters in the area, the League serves the Greater Cincinnati area through initiatives to reduce the number of homeless animals and to help people better care for their pets. Using the resources of its dedicated staff, volunteers and supporters, the League provides the medical care, behavioral training and socialization needed to match homeless animals with lifelong homes.

If you’re not convinced yet…stick with me, here’s the real reasons you should buy your ticket ASAP!

The Beer

You know that I wouldn’t be talking about the event if it didn’t have a good local beer presence about it, and this festival’s got a great one.  Get ready… it’s a big list, and you’ll have up to 84oz of beer that your ticket allows you to drink.  They’ll be pouring beer (specifics aren’t available yet) from these local folks:

  • MadTree
  • Bad Tom Smith
  • Rhinegeist
  • Brink Brewing
  • Fifty West
  • Fibonacci
  • Streetside
  • DogBerry
  • 13 Below
  • Tap and Screw
  • West Side
  • Tafts
  • Mt Carmel

And if you’ve got some interest in branching out a little bit, they’ll also have some stuff on tap from these “not so local, but still awesome” breweries.

  • Multiple Brewing – Nelsonville, Ohio
  • Wild Ohio Brewing – Columbus, Ohio

The Food

After explaining the whole idea for the festival, you shouldn’t be surprised to see a great line up of food options for you to nosh on all day.  Remember that your ticket includes samples from each of these places – so you don’t have to make your choice of what to eat, only to be disappointed later when you see someone walk by you with something even tastier looking than your pick.

  • Bouquet Restaurant
  • Fifty West
  • The Farmstand Market & Cafe
  • Muse
  • Keystone’s Mac Shack
  • Cozy’s Cafe
  • The Wheel

The Music

If you find that you’re the type of person that isn’t entertained by just eating and drinking alone, and you require something to keep your toes tapping while you’re doing it, no worries… they’ve got you covered with music from:

  • Doc Robinson
  • Buffalo Wabs & The Price Hill Hustle

The point?  It’s going to be a hell of a time – don’t sleep on this one!!!
