Last year, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra teamed up with Christian Moerlein to brew a delicious beer called Lumenocity to celebrate the festival of the same name, and I was really excited to hear that they would be doing it again, but this time with another one of their neighbors in OTR, Rhinegeist.

This isn’t just a superficial beer collaboration, if you are paying attention and you care about that sort of thing, the CSO director, Louis Langée actually went to the brewery and got his hands a little dirty making this beer.

The brewery is teaming up to craft this years beer, called Glow, which is a single hop pale ale brewed using the the Hüell Melon Hops.  It’s coming out at an easy drinking 5.2% ABV and a palate refreshing 42 IBUs.  We all know at this point that Rhinegeist has mastered the art of the single hop pale ale, and this makes me really excited to know that they’ll be using this hop for this one.  If you made it down to Braxton Brewing to try their first in their “Trophy” series, you’ll be familiar with some of the delicious berry and fruit flavors that the hop has.  I wrote about that beer a little while back if you didn’t get a chance to read it.

Make sure you get out and about soon, the beer debuts around town on July 27th.
