Hustle, a red rye ale, releases as Spring wrestles Winter into submission. And the Redlegs take the field – here’s to a hot start this year!

Rhinegeist released this wonderful Rye Pale ale first on draft in 2014 for the baseball season, and then followed it up in 2015 with one of my favorite can designs that they’ve been responsible for to date.

The beer signaled the start of baseball season in Cincinnati each year until 2017 when it received a highly debated change.  The hustle you find on shelves now, is this one – it’s a red lager, which although it’s a fantastic beer, has very little to do with the Rye Pale Ale that is now retired.

My Thoughts On Rhinegeist Hustle

I am a sucker for a good Rye Pale Ale, and Hustle was no exception to this.  The rust colored beer has a thick tan head on it that oozed a delicious spicy bread aroma that was punctuated with a little floral quality that just screams spring time.

It’s earthy, but still bright.  Just like spring baseball season, with those days that bring a chilly breeze sandwiched right between those sunny hot ones.

I miss this beer….
