Moerlein Connector GlassDuring the construction of the Cincinnati Streetcar, now called the Cincinnati Bell Connector, we’ve seen a few different beers in what I’m calling the ‘Streetcar Series’.

I wish that the breweries that were involved had pulled this “series” together a little more and turned it into something more cohesive – but there were a few really great beers that came out of it one way or another.  Two of these beers have been from the Christian Moerlein Brewing Company, Desire, a hoppy read ale and now this latest one to wrap it up.

The series wraps up this month as our streetcar starts transporting passengers for the first time, finally.

Moerlein is tapping the “Connector IPA” in honor of the grand opening on September 9th at both the Lager House and the Malt House.  Along with the beer, you’ll also be able to get a commemorative Connector Pint Glass (while supplies last, of course).

About The Beer

Connector is said to be an American IPA packed full of big Amarillo hops, providing a flowery, spicy and citrus-like aroma, all complimented by a solid blend of caramel malts to form a base for it to stand on.

The beer clocks in at 5.5% ABV and packs 55 IBUs – this sounds like an IPA right in my wheelhouse, and I can’t wait to try it for myself.

If you don’t make it to the event itself, you’ll be happy to know that this might be finding its way to some venues that are situated along the streetcar route.  I’m not sure, then, if you have an excuse not to hop on board the streetcar, make the brewery and bar rounds and snag one of these somewhere while you’re doing it!
