Tap and ScrewThis one’s hot off of the presses, which means from Facebook.  The West Side is losing their one brewery, right as their second is looking to get their doors open.  Tap and Screw first moved into their location and started brewing for the West Side community back at the end of 2014.  They announced plans for a second location back in February of 2016, and today got more chatter going when they announced that their first location would be closing – immediately.

Here’s the full statement from Facebook:

Tap & Screw Brewery is moving! Most of you know we’ve been working on the Oakley location on Madison Road for some time. What you don’t know is that we have been working on a new location on Red Bank Road that is big enough for us to have substantial distribution. It will be adjacent to the new Dolce Hotel and the new Holiday Inn Express.

As part of the transition we are selling the building on the West Side, which is not big enough to support distribution. The deal happened more quickly than we anticipated, and the new owner needs time to renovate to re-open in time for March Madness.

So, for now Tap & Screw Brewery will not have any tap-room hours until the Oakley location opens. We will still have retail and wholesale keg sales. Look for us at beer fest, meet the brewer events around town, as well as bars and restaurants featuring our beers.

Cheers to Cincinnati for your wonderful support the last two and a half years, which has enabled this all to happen!

Some Important Things To Note:

  • Oakley is still on track to open as a brewpub – the food program will be done by BrewRiver Gastropub.
  • There is a new production facility with a 1500 square foot taproom coming on Red Bank Road.
  • There are no taproom hours (because there is no taproom) yet – until the new facility in Oakley opens its doors

This seems like it’s going to be a good move for the brewery.  They are looking to step up their production in a big way, and get their beer to a lot of places that it wasn’t before.  If you’ve yet to give them a try, you might get your shot very soon.  The whole thing is moving along very quickly, which wasn’t the plan. Their old location sold a bit quicker then I think they were anticipating, and the new location is taking a little longer than they anticipated.  But when stuff like that happens, you just roll with it!

As for the new Oakley location, they are hiring.  They’re looking for cooks, bartenders, sales reps, the whole 9 yards.  If you’re looking to get your foot in the door in the beer business, or if you have experience – give them a shout out, this is going to be a big year for the brewery!
