Smooth drinking brown ale with hints of coffee and chocolate

I might be speaking out of turn here, when I call Rusty Bumper one of Grainworks’ flagship brews… because I don’t know that they call it that. The beer was one of the debut taps when they opened up their doors for the first time in 2017 and then was one of the first beers that hit cans when they started canning their beer in 2019. Clearly, Rusty Bumper is a fan favorite if not a flagship.

My Thoughts on Grainworks Rusty Bumper

This is a great example of what makes a brown ale what it is. The beer is rich. It’s dark, heavy-bodied, and packed full of every ounce of toffee, chocolate, and coffee that you could imagine.

In the glass, the beer is dark, deep brown with a full, thick tan head on top.

Aromas are roasty and nutty with a bit of coffee sprinkled on top.

But that taste… it goes on for days! I get every ounce of roasty chocolaty malt that a malt fan like me could hope for – it’s over the top, but still holds it all together, somehow.

Amazing.
